Doc/Fest 2008
Sheffield Doc/Fest is inviting Yorkshire-based producers to attend a special workshop in

Doc /Fest presents the UK's biggest international documentary marketplace which includes the unique pitching initiative: MeetMarket where documentary makers pitch their newest projects to dozens of UK and international buyers, EP's, commissioning editors and distributors. MeetMarket provides high quality, original ideas with the possibility to be fast-tracked from development to production, in a supportive and dynamic setting. This workshop is an opportunity to prepare your projects for the Marketplace at the Doc/Fest and offers an exclusive window into what key decision-makers are looking for right now from you.
"MeetMarket surprised me: I had an extraordinarily creative response to my film from 23 intelligent men and women who care passionately about documentaries. They reflected my story back to me and I came out richer – not just financially, although I have already been offered money to complete my film, but in terms of valuing my project." - MeetMarket participant 2007
Places for this workshop are very limited. To express interest, and for more information, please email Marketplace Producer Charlie Phillips at charlie@sidf.co.uk stating your name and company, along with a one-page pitch for the project that you’d like to work with at the workshop and apply to the Doc/Fest MeetMarket with. Your project can be at any stage of development. Alternatively, if you would just like to attend the workshop as an observer, please state that in your email.
This workshop has been made possible through the kind support of Yorkshire Forward, Screen Yorkshire, The MEDIA Programme of the European Union, and The Skillset Film Skills Fund. The Skillset Film Skills Fund is supported by the National Lottery through the UK Film Council and the film industry through the Skills Investment Fund.
